This site is a tribute to Manjit Singh Bhogal (also known as Mama, Mamu, Lala and Miah) who was born in Nairobi, Kenya on 23rd January 1943. A strong, funny, loving and selfless man who always gave a helping hand to others and never gave up in the hardest of times. He lit up every room he walked into and was the soul of every gathering. A highly skilled panel beater who began working on cars in Kenya in his early teens at Hughes later taken over by Cooper motors. in 1964 he moved to the UK with our mum Amarjit Kaur Bhogal where they spent the rest of their lives. They were the first of our relatives to move here as Dad always wanted to live in London. He worked at Fiat for a while and then at Renault Park Royal where he retired. Furthermore, he still couldn't stop working on cars as it was his passion, so he then started working at Dellers Cars. A man of many hands on skills such as carpentry, decorating, varnishing to perfection and DIY. Not forgetting his cooking of meats and seafood which was unbeatable and tasted divine. He touched many hearts and left smiles on peoples' faces even strangers. He was always young at heart and never grew old. Manjit was also renowned for his fun lifestyle and original tatoos which he loved to show off especially the one of Guru Nanak, something never done before. He travelled abroad with work, family and friends including Dieppe South of France and Munich for Oktoberfest (beer festival). He thoroughly enjoyed his food and drink including being guilty of having a naughty sweet tooth. One of his phrases was apa na fikri, which means 'dont worry' in Swahili and he would always reassure people with this if they had any troubles or problems they shared where he could help to resolve. We are proud and privileged to have him as our dad, such a unique individual who was very much loved by all. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten. He has left behind a legacy all around the world.
